Course Objectives Obstetric Emergencies: Assessment and Treatment in the Prehospital Setting 1. Define obstetric emergencies and identify the most common types. 2. Assess and manage common emergencies during gestation, including: Vaginal bleeding Preeclampsia and eclampsia Miscarriage Placental abruption Umbilical cord prolapse Preterm labor 3. Recognize and manage complications of pregnancy during delivery, such as: Prolonged labor Postpartum hemorrhage Uterine rupture Fetal distress 4. Provide initial care to newborns, including: Preventing hypothermia 5. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare providers in obstetric emergency situations.
